Peyton Rhodes is a multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago currently pursuing a BFA in Art,Media, and Design from DePaul University. Primarily -but not limited to- working within the realm of painting and video, Rhodes is focused on unpacking personal experiences of intimacy, womanhood, the body, and the environment from the aimed perspective of one raised in small-town conservatism.

With strong visual interests in color, texture, and organic abstraction, her subjects both flow and dissipate amongst each other in emphasis of the often complex and unanswerable nature of their circumstances, or more so, life’s circumstances. Her projects hope to answer questions she was encouraged not to explore, or to examine contradictions that arise amongst repressive cultures.

Whilst her work expresses personal emotions, experiences, or thought processes, they intend to display vaguely and anonymously in emphasis of the common/widespread impact that conservative institutions hold on many, especially in consideration of the capability for them to wash away senses of individuality and self-understanding.
